In 1995 Rod and Janet Schwartz made the decision to market their popular family recipes for season mixtures and Schwartz Sausage Company Inc. was formed and currently trade as the Wild West Seasonings.

Participation in trade shows have allowed Wild West Seasonings to grow, and grow it did.  The product line included: “Traditional, Hickory, Pepper, Teriyaki, Cajun, Barbecue, and X-tra Hot Buffalo.  Another six months went by and another eight more seasonings were added “ Golden West Chicken,  Dry Garlic Rib, Honey Garlic Rib, Marinara, Golden Crispy Fish, Fishermans Favorite, Buddies Beer Batter and Freddies Famous Fish seasoning.”.  In additional to the seasoning mixtures, “Sausage seasonings” have been included as part of the Schwartz business.  These kits allow customers to produce their own sausage(s) through the simple addition of ground meat.  Our sausage comes in 8 different varieties: “European Garlic Sausage, Home Style Farmer Sausage, Country Style Summer Sausage, Breakfast Sausage, Pepperoni, Bratwurst, Mild Italian, and Hot Italian.
In 1999 Rod & Janet purchased their own packaging machine. This has allowed them to offer contract packaging to other producers. For more information on contract packaging e-mail www.WildWestSeasonings.com .  That same year six new meat marinades were added to the product line.  These 1 portion size packs in popular flavors, “Pepper, Teriyaki, Cajun, Herb & Ginger, Cracked Pepper & Garlic and Jamaican Jerk”, have been very well received and were instrumental in marketing our products into the US market.

The Traditional jerky seasoning was used to win the “Grand Champion Beef Jerky” at Western Canadian Agribition in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1997. and  again in 2000.

Rod & Janet contribute their success to many different aspects of their business.  First and foremost - quality.  A quality product has produced many repeat customers for Wild West Seasonings.   This quality is assured through the utilization of professional blending companies, which are ISO 9000 approved.  Secondly the shelf appeal of their packaging draws customer’s attention to it.  This has helped in sales success of the product.   Finally the success of Wild West Seasonings has relied on a very aggressive marketing plan.  This marketing plan keeps Rod and Janet on the road several times a year, but has proved that hard work pays off.

Today Wild West Seasonings markets their products in Canada from Vancouver Island to Ottawa, Inuvik and Baffin Island.  The markets in the United States have grown to include 20 states.  In addition to selling the product directly to the consumers at trade shows, the product is now being marketed to buyers and larger retail stores, with an impressive rate of success.

Goals which the Schwartzs are aiming for in the future include: expanding their product line even further, expanding their markets in the United States and diversify the size of their packaging to better accommodate the food service sector.  These goals will be attainable as customer demand for new flavors are developed and the continued marketing of the product is pursued.
